Why We’re an Income Qualified Program Registered Contractor

West Temp is proud to be an Income Qualified Program Registered Contractor, signifying a commitment to making energy-efficient solutions accessible to all homeowners. Here’s how it works.

In the quest for better home performance, affordability often sits high on the list of homeowners’ priorities. In some cases, the prices associated with upgrading their home are out of reach. But that doesn't mean a comfortable, energy-efficient home shouldn't be possible.

Thankfully, in British Columbia a program exists to help homeowners bridge these costs: the CleanBC Income Qualified Program (IQP).

In this article, we’ll delve into what it means for West Temp to be IQP certified, and why this certification is important for homeowners looking to improve their homes through the IQP program.

What is the Income Qualified Program?

Before explaining what Income Qualified Program Certification means, I suppose it makes sense to explain what the IQP is!

Here’s the Income Qualified Program in a nutshell:

The Income Qualified Program (IQP) is a program offered by CleanBC. This program is designed to make energy-efficient home upgrades more affordable for people in BC who meet certain income qualifications.

Through the IQP, CleanBC offers enhanced rebates towards energy-efficient and eco-friendly home upgrades. This in turn helps lower monthly energy costs, improve comfort, enhance indoor air quality, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions for BC homeowners.

Rebates offered by the CleanBC Income Qualified Program cover a significant portion of the upgrade costs, potentially up to 95% (depending on household income and size). The IQP supports a range of improvements including insulation, windows and doors, heat pumps, and more, ensuring that all residents have the opportunity to live in a healthier and more energy-efficient environment.

Who Qualifies for the Income Qualified Program?

To qualify for the enhanced rebates offered by the CleanBC Income Qualified Program, applicants must requirements based on household income and other criteria.

In general, to be eligible:

  • Household income must meet specified levels to qualify for rebates up to 95% of upgrade costs.
  • Applicants must be BC citizens with a residential utility account with BC Hydro, FortisBC, or a municipal utility.
  • Upgrades must be installed by an Income Qualified Program Registered Contractor (such as West Temp Heating & Cooling).
  • The home must be the primary residence, and mainly heated by electricity, natural gas, propane, oil, or other solid fuels.
  • Pre-registration and an eligibility code are required before the upgrade.
  • Certain types of homes, such as single-family homes, mobile homes, duplexes, and townhomes with separate meters, are eligible.
  • There is a deadline for submitting applications and supporting documentation.

For complete details on eligibility requirements, please refer to the CleanBC website.
